When City Woman asked artist Sarah Heppner to describe her style she agreed it was probably Rolf Harris meets Vermeer - with a dash of Dali thrown in. Owner of The Blue Duck Gallery in Caversham Clare Varley, who offered her her first solo exhibition, said: "She sees things, picks up little bits and pieces that you or I wouldn't necessarily notice." And that is exactly one of the things that Sarah has learnt from her artist father, to really look at what she is painting. At just 28, and the mother of two young children, Sarah has had to work hard to find the time to paint. Clare added: "Sarah's style is completely different to what I would normally show in the gallery. It's very representational, it's really nice to have something completely different. I have a lot of abstract [work] in the gallery, Sarah's style is quite old fashioned. It's really good." Sarah's work is very reasonably priced, according to Clare, who is please Sarah is offering signed, limited edition prints. [...] Her prices start around the £200 mark for smaller pieces and go up to around £800 for a large canvas. But new fans will also be able to purchase signed, limited edition prints for as little as £50. The Sarah Heppner exhibition is at The Blue Duck Gallery, 16 Hemdean Road, Caversham until at least Sunday, February 12. It's free to go in.
