A series of vibrant oil paintings of landscapes, townscapes, boats and flowers, by artist Penny Rees, comes to The Blue Duck Gallery in Caversham from Sunday.

The exhibition of new, original pieces by the Herefordshire-based painter runs until Sunday December 4 at the Hemdean Road venue, which also stocks ceramics, jewellery, glass, and gifts from Caversham-born artist, Simon Drew.

And for anyone who has passed the gallery in the last few months and wondered to which animal the picture of a big black nose in the window belongs, the solution lies with a Great Dame called Huckleberry. The giant hound belongs to Kidmore End resident, photographer and dog trainer, Heather Watson, who has sold her close-up prints at The Blue Duck over the summer.
